SHELTERS OF MIND

I started my experiments in combining metal net and clay in pyramid-like forms. I wanted to master the changes of two different materials, which behave in contradictory ways during the process of drying and firing. During the drying the clay shrinks and the metal net stays firm. I the firing the clay becomes hard and the metal net embrittles. In a successful result the melted glaze partly fills the cracks forming a strong ceramic piece.

SIGNS OF LIFE

I had pressed tiny stamps on the big voluted-formed sculptures. These signs grew larger, more versatile and independent on the theme Signs of Life. The topics were details of plants, humans and other motifs of nature.

DRAGONFLIES

One of the marks was a dragonfly. It developed into a series of four relieves. They represented the flight and the wings of dragonflies. I carved the lines straight on blocks of plaster, pressed soft clay on them and ended up with thin white slabs of ceramic. I see them as detached sheets of a sketchbook.
